I am ingesting BC data to MS fabric Bronze layer . How can I bring flowfields like LCY to fabric or how can I get the backend  calculation to replicate same during  transformation to silver layer in fabric . I need to bring the LCY but can't find the back end calculation . What would be the correct approach to achieve this .

    Hi there,

When ingesting data from Business Central (BC) into Microsoft Fabric, especially flowfields like LCY (Local Currency), it's important to understand that flowfields are calculated fields, not stored directly in the database.

Here’s how you can approach this:

    1. Use OData or APIs:

      • When extracting data via OData or BC APIs, flowfields like LCY are typically not included unless explicitly exposed.
      • Consider creating a custom API page in BC that includes the LCY field as a calculated field.
    2. Replicate the Calculation in Fabric:

      • If you can't extract LCY directly, replicate the logic in the Silver layer using transformation rules.
      • LCY is usually calculated using:
        • Amount × Exchange Rate
        • You’ll need to bring in the Currency Exchange Rate table and apply the correct rate based on the transaction date and currency code.
    3. Use Dataflows or Notebooks:

      • In Fabric, use Dataflows Gen2 or Notebooks to apply the transformation logic during the Bronze-to-Silver transition.
    4. Documentation Reference:

      • Microsoft’s documentation on flowfields and currency exchange can help you replicate the logic accurately.

Let me know if you’d like help building the transformation logic or creating a custom API page in BC!

    Best regards!
