How to import accounts and contacts with same names?

Hi,

I'm importing the contacts and accounts of my company for the first time. We are 2 weeks far for the Go Live.

I'm facing failures on the import process because Accounts have same name (but different Account ID and address). For exemple each business unit manage the account "Orbit Garant" but with a different Account ID and address (several offices). Also I've got homonyms on my contacts. I prepared import files for each business unit. And I import the data of each business unit separately.

How could I do to avoid the failure "A duplicate lookup reference was found"? And import correctly the data?

Knowing that I did as follow :

- Disabled the Deplicate detection on each entity

- Unpublished the duplication rules

- Selected "yes" to the question "Allow duplicates" on the last step of the import process.

And It doesn't work!

I've read that it could be possible on 2 different ways but it doesn't work!

- Deactivate the contacts-accounts : Steps as follow : Import a first group of data / Deactivate the contacts-accounts that have same names on the second group of data / Import the second group of data / Reactivate the first group of data

- Import as the user : Steps as follow : Import the first group of data (with your admin id) / Log off / Log on with the owner ID of the second group of data / Import the second group of data.

But none of the solutions works!

Could you please help me?

Thanks a lot

Noé

The duplicate lookup reference was found refers to when you attempt to do a look up to a record but it can't find a unique value. So it you are trying to import contacts and match them up to an account solely by the account name - it will have failures in your case because you indicated there are multiple accounts with the same name. To avoid this, ideally you would use a unique value instead of the name. You mentioned the account number was unique so in your contact import file replace account name with account number and change the mapping to use that field to do the look up.
