We've been seeing performance dips when running GP reports during specific times in the day usually around 9:30a and 11:00a but then post that it disappears. As per the CFO the report itself doesn't have any issues but when they drill down to user accounts it goes slow. Any reason as to why this would be the case when there is no resource crunch on the server during those times and there is nothing going bad really. I can get more details on exactly what is the version and what kind of report they are running so let me know what is needed in order to figure out this issue and I can speak to the CFO and gather more details.

I've reached out to the client but haven't got back any updates yet to share. However, as soon as I have something I will relay it here.
Thanks
What types of reports are you talking about? SSRS reports, Report Writer reports? Excel reports? I've troubleshot a number of SSRS and Excel reports that query extensive data without applying the WITH (NOLOCK) clause in the SQL queries. This tends to create contention and deadlock between processes like posting and the report generation itself - especially in poorly implemented SQL Server environment. As for Report Writer reports, those typically build data and display it on a record by record basis. The larger the data set, the slower the report.
Any historical aged trial balance report will take a long time and even longer as the volume of data grows. Let us know which reports are running slowly and we can be more specific.
Sounds like it maybe a network issue??
