How to delete lookup mapping so that it doesn't autofill the data

I have 2 fields on a form that are lookups back to the Account record.  Now when I add an Opportunity from the Account through the quick create form, the 2 fields (which are not on the quick create form) get auto filled with values from the Account record.  I tried deleting the mapping but the system wont let me.  Is there a way that somehow to stop the auto fill and just keep it as a lookup still?

    Hi USA80,

As you said, you can't delete or disable these OOB settings.

So you can try to create a workflow to clear them after creating opportunity from account.
