Database storage capacity outsourcing possibilities

Posted on by 69

Hi.

A customer wants to implement migration from on-premise to cloud. He has a large accumulation of activities that we need to reduce before the migration. However, the activities will accumulate again very quickly in the cloud. That's why we are wondering if there is a way to store the activities in an external database. The storage capacity in D365 has been split between database, files and logs. Logs would not be a problem at this time and the files are offloaded to Sharepoint or Azure Blob via MSCRM addons Attachment Extractor. That's why only the database remains as a problem area.

For the customer, expanding the storage through add-on packages is definitely out of the question. Now Microsoft has increased the prices again, which is why almost 40€ for 1 GB of additional storage is not justified. The customer would also need 50-70GB, which would again amount to 2,000€ per month.

Now the question if there is even a possibility to store the activities in an External Database. Maybe there is only the possibility to archive the activities externally and access them when needed.

Any answer will be very helpful.

    Hi Wdsos,

Activity attachments consume most of the Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM storage space. As these attachments accumulate, they result in inadequate Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM storage space and poor system performance, especially in tasks like record searching and retrieval.
Archiving activities externally and accessing them when needed is an arduous task.

This is where Inogic’s Attach2Dynamics comes in handy. It enables users to integrate Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM with multiple cloud storage platforms like SharePoint, Dropbox, and Azure Blob Storage. Making it possible to move Activity/attachments to cloud in real time.

Furthermore, to save Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM storage space and costs, when it comes to transferring files/attachments to cloud storage platforms such as SharePoint, the process becomes repetitive as users have to manually replicate user privileges from Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM to SharePoint, which can compromise security of your documents.

To resolve this security concern, you can use SharePoint Security Sync, another app by Inogic that allows users to automatically sync security privileges from Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM to SharePoint.

Adopting these apps for your Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM document management needs can help you drastically reduce storage space consumption and eliminate the need to buy expensive storage space.

If you are curious to explore Attach2Dynamics and SharePoint Security Sync’s amazing features, you can get both of these apps for a 15-day free trial from Inogic website or Microsoft AppSource. To get a personalized demo of the apps, you can mail us at crm@inogic.com.

    Thanks!
