Financail Reporting Service install fails

Hi,

The retry install  of an on-premise Financial Reporting Service[MR] fails with below message;

Message An error was encountered.

The same error happens when  reinstalling against a newly initialised Financial Reporting DB as well

    Hello Cfernadez,

    Is there more information in "Applications and Services Logs | Microsoft | Dynamics | MR-Logger | Operational"?

    If there is an PPI in there please don't post it.

    Hi Erik Johnson,

    regret that I was not very specific; the FinanciallReporting service has disappeared from the Service Fabric; and so there are no logs in MR nodes.

    also, this has happened after a certification rotation process; unfortunately, the expiry date is passed

    however, all the other services are working with the new certificates

    does the certificate Provider have any relevance to the error message; one difference that I have noticed is that the provide string in the old certificates is "Microsoft Enhanced RSA and AES Cryptographic Provider"  while the new ones have " Microsoft Enhanced Cryptographic Provider v1.0"

    Hello Fernandez,

    Since you are having certificate issues and the services are not showing I would recommend to open a support ticket with us (MSFT) and we can then stream in to troubleshoot the issue(s).

    how do I open a support ticket (currently no support plans are visible in the LCS and the earlier admin person is not available)

    also every other service IS working ( LBDTelemetryType-Agent, AXSFType, AXBootstrapperAppType, RTGatewayAppType, MonitoringAgentAppType, LocalAgentType, ReportingService)

    only the FinancialReportingType is missing from the Service Fabric

    I have managed to open a support ticket with Microsoft and am currently working with them to resolve this.

    Hi All,

    The certificate provider for DataEncryption & DataSigning is important and has to be 'Microsoft Enhanced RSA and AES Cryptographic Provider'; all others can be the default 'Microsoft Enhanced Cryptographic Provider v1.0'

    Nailed it finally; and the Reporting service has installed successfully

    keep safe. keep well
