How to add 00 in from of check numbers

Posted on by 140

we had 6 digit check numbers earlier and now we changed it to 8 digits. How can we add 00 in front of all the old 6 digit check numbers?

we have around 150 of them that we need the rest could stay 6 digit or change either way.

Thanks for your time and responses in advance.

    Hello VICKY.PATEL,

           Call IncrStrg(strLastnbr, 6, 1)

           strGenNbr = "00"  & strLastnbr

           bTable.FieldName= strGenNbr

    There is no screen that you can do this with but it could be done with some SQL queries.  You did not indicate whether you are talking about AP checks or PR checks.  If you clarify which and are comfortable running SQL queries I can provide then for you.  You have to make sure you hit all the table involved when doing this but it is not difficult.

    The other issue you might run into depends on what version of SL you are running.  Earlier versions only supported a 6 character check number on the void check screen so changing to a 8 character check number could result in you not being able to void one of those checks.  You probably do not have this issue but you might want to start a dummy void check screen and try entering more than 6 characters for the check number (i.e., 1234567) and see if it will take the 7th digit before attempting this.
