Open Local File Directly from D365

Posted on by 277 Most Valuable Professional

If the local path was mentioned in a note or some other place Is there a standard feature which would help to open Local file path from D365.

Can this be achieved without customization.

    Hi,

there is not out of box feature support this. So, you have to create your own custom solution.

Thanks Wei this is the same result I got when I search but was looking at standard feature seems it's not available.

    Hi Kasunpathirana,

You will not be able to achieve this without custom development, but this is an example of a method to do this.

Start by creating a JavaScript file to run on load of a form. The code can use the Window setInterval() Method to refresh a HTML web resource until the file folder path is displayed to the user on the HTML web resource. The user can then click the path to open the folder location on their computer. However, opening a windows file folder path link will only work on Internet Explorer, and possibly Microsoft Edge.
