Stop an email in a live customer journey

Our onboarding customer journey now contains an email that is not relevant anymore. Since I can't just remove the tile from the Live customer journey I am looking for a workaround.

If I find the expired email and stop it from being Live - will the customer journey then skip that email tile for the participants?

    You can use the email expiration date, once past the expiry date the journey will skip that email - Set expiration dates on email messages (Dynamics 365 Marketing) | Microsoft Docs
