Dynamic portal editing tool gone

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi, I am setting up a Dynamics portal for the first time, and I have done some configuring and added some CSS in the portal.

And arround 3 weeks ago the quick editing tool just dissapeared, along with the knowledge articles and the case history that was there when you loged in and submited a case. I tired MS support and they hjelped me to check the security roles, web roles and my web role. We Even tried renoving code form the Home portal page to see if it was something in the code. But no luck.

As far as I see I need the tool to finish the portal and to get the knowledge articles back.

Does anyone have any tips? I realy nerd to fix this as we are going live next week.

    Hi Helen,

Since you are mentioning that you made changes to bootstrap, I would check in the HTML code of the displayed page, if the following element is being displayed:

    <div class="yui-panel-container shadow focused xrm-editable-toolbar-pinned" id="yui-gen0_c">

This is the div class of the editable panel container.

This might provide you some insight of whether this is a bootstrap issue or possibly something else on the backend.

You can also spin up a trial environment, copy the portal changes to the trial and see if you get the same behavior.

It is going to be a little hard to troubleshoot without access to the CRM and portal environment directly.

Hopefully someone else has a better answer.

    Good luck.

    Thanks for the answer!

I'm referring to the quick editing tool on the portal side. I have all the right administrator rights and web roles. So the issue is not in the settings. I'm starting to think it is in the changes that we have made to the portal (bootstrap and also some GDPR settings). Other than that the portal is very out of the box. I'm thinking I might have to reset the portal and provision a new one. Because we hare going live on Wednesday and I really need to get it up an running by then.

Which tool are you referring to?

Are you making the portal changes on the CRM side or on the Portal side directly with the Editor (where you see the Preview On button)?

If that is the case (Editor), I would check a the following:

Go to your Contact record, click on the arrow (on the navigation area bar) next to you name and select Web Roles.

Make sure that your user belongs to the Administrators Web Role.

    Hope this helps.
