Hi community,

I have a rather silly question.

In Bank Reconciliation, what to do if the Statement Ending Balance doesn’t match with the Total Balance in Navision 2018?

how do I go about matching it till they are balance?

Thank you!

Are you missing some transactions? This would suggest that.

Josh is right about transactions missing but to take this a step further. But there are many questions....

Can you balance to your deposits cleared on your bank rec and the deposits cleared on your bank statement? Can you do the same for your checks?

Are you talking about the difference value in the bank rec?

Or are you saying that the balance on the bank account card doesn't match the statement ending balance? If you think about it, these rarely will match because you have transactions that have been deducted from the bank card but not yet reconciliation to the bank statements,

    Josh,

    Adding to the other replies...

If you G/L Bank Balance does not match the Statement Ending Balance you have to ask yourself:

    1. Did the Statement and Bank G/L Balance match and post correctly last month (rule out issues from prior month)?

    2. Are all the checks listed in the NAV matched and cleared from what the Statement shows?

    3. Are all the deposits listed in NAV matched and cleared from what the Statement shows?

    4. Have you recorded any fees and missing entries on the Statement and not in NAV?

If all the above are good, then are you sure the Ending Bank Balance entered equals the Ending Bank Balance on Statement? Is the Statement thru a month end and when you pulled (Suggest) the Checks and Deposits that date range was correct and did not include activity post the Bank Statement Ending Date?

    Hope all this helps.

    Thanks,

    Steve

While this may appear to be understood, the way to check if the reconciliation matches the statement is to go line by line with the amounts on the left side of the reconciliation and match those to each line amount on the bank statement. Many times an import of the amounts is done and not all transactions get imported. Those transactions you have to enter into the left side manually.

Other times, no matter what I do, something is caught up in a memory cache and it just won't balance and post. When this happens I need to delete the current reconciliation and start fresh.
