Dynamics CRM 2013 Customize Tile Color

Hello,

Thanks for reading.

How do I (in either a supported or unsupported way) customize the background colors of the navigation tiles in Dynamics CRM 2013?

My question applies to both the menus that represent entities, e.g. changing the color of each of the "Dashboards", "Contacts", "Cases" and "Service Calendar" tiles, as well as changing the colors of the area tiles themselves. For example, making "Sales" a different color from "Service" and a different color from "Settings" and "Help"

    Dear Mintaka,

There isn't any supported way to change the colors and themes on CRM 2013

    Regards,

    You could try these solutions:

Here's a wider summary of how other people have looked to change the tile navigation:

However think twice about implementing these - bear in mind what is coming OOTB.

    *  As Guido says - Online will get this in the spring release.

    *  On-premise installations may be able to get it (via the base solution) in the Fall 2015 release (not 100% guaranteed by Microsoft, but likely).

There is no supported customization available for crm 2013. It's upcoming release for crm online 2015 update 1. I wouldn't recommend to change them using custom code as well. Given the nature of the prduct that keep changing on each releases, it's recommended to stick with the standarad supported customization methods.

Can you point me to where the main menu tile colors can be changed?

    Hi

There still isn't a way of doing this in CRM 2016. The only colors other than the default are for areas with the specific IDs in the default SiteMap - https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg334280.aspx#BKMK_DefaultSiteMapXML

You have to use 'MA' for example to get the standard orange for marketing. You will also get the standard icon, which can't then be overridden.

From what I can tell, these standard default colors and icons are implemented in code and there's not a supported way of defining your own. There are no attributes in the SiteMap XML that can be used and it isn't in the theme.
