GP 2013 Upgrade Suspended?

Had to revert to Server 2008R2 from Server 2012 due to an inability to install BP and during my test upgrade I ran into an issue: community.dynamics.com/.../microsoft-dynamics-gp-2013-known-upgrade-issues.aspx   Unlike the #11, my installation doesn't have the white screen but seems like it has hung. I watched it get to the last table upgrades and that pop-up window then just disappeared but nothing is appearing on the screen. I can minimize/maxmize the program just fine. If I try to click the X to close it, I receive the following message: "Processes are currently being run that cannot be deleted. These processes must be run to completion before you exit." It has been this way for over two hours while initial upgrade itself took barely longer than an hour.

I don't remember my test upgrades on Server 2012 doing anything similar to this one so I'm a bit stumped right now.

Figured out the issue. I was intentionally not restoring two test company dbs to the new server because I didn't want to use them with GP2013. Unfortunately leaving those off leaves GP Utilities in a panic. By restoring those two dbs, the installation finishes normally.

Ran a SQL trace and am not seeing a ton of activity, but what is there seems to repeat. The repeating part has "Report Server" under the ApplicationName column.

Originally in my test migration (link above) I had some slight cross-over with GP SQL Reports (live reports accidentally got upgraded). Unlike my tests before, now I set up SQL Report Services before I ran GP Utilities. Not sure if that is relevant, just thought I'd mention it.

Going to roll the snapshot back to see if I can reproduce the behavior a second time.

Version wise, no updates were needed as we're current so we can go right to 2013.

From what release of GP 2010 are you attempting to upgrade to GP 2013? I have had no issues with going from GP 2010 R2 to GP 2013.  What is the sub release number? GP 11.00.xxxx?

I am testing the upgrade from GP2010 to GP2013 on a Server 2008 R2 server and I am getting the same thing.  I vaguely remember this happening when testing the upgrade from GP10 to GP2010 and I think it was an issue with the SRS reports.  I believe that after the databases are upgraded it then does the SRS reports automatically if you were using them in the version of GP you are upgrading.  Can't remember what I did to get around this issue though.

If you run a SQL trace, what does it show is happening?
