    Happy New Year,

    Please check 2 places:

    1. If you set your Allow From and Allow To posting dates on the General Ledger Setup make sure they include the Date you are trying to Post in

    OR

    2. If you use the User Setup to set the Allow From and Allow To then look there and find your User Name to see the Dates that are set. If the Dates shown are not the Date you are Posting too, update to the correct Posting Period.

Note that if you are NOT the person maintaining the Allow From and Allow To, I would speak to someone in IT or Accounting as they might be the administrator.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks,

    Steve

    Dear Steve

Happy New Year and thanks for your reply.

I did check the GL Setup and the Allow From and Allow to posting dates indeed have included the dates I was trying to post.

One thing I tried was when I click on "Post WIP to G/L" , and after input the dates in "Reversal Posting Date", it then allow me to post.

So the issues seems that it was caused by no reversal date for the journal posted.

This one I don't quite understand

Do you have any idea about this ?

    Thanks.

    Hello,

Yes, the Job Post WIP to G/L, within the Options, requires the Reversal Posting Date value to be entered.

    pastedimage1610311816065v1.png

The Job Post WIP to G/L batch job is used to post to G/L the WIP and recognition you calculated using the Job Calculate WIP batch job. You fill in the Reversal Date and Document No..
The Reverse Only check box is used to reverse previous posted WIP, but not to post new WIP to G/L. This may be useful, for example, when you have calculated and posted WIP for a job with an incorrect date error and want to reverse the incorrect postings without posting new WIP postings. In this case, leave this check box cleared. Insert a check mark in the Use Reversal Date field if you want to use the reversal date as the posting date for both the reversal of the previous WIP calculation and the posting date for the new WIP calculation. This is useful when you want to calculate and post the historical WIP backdated. You can reverse the old postings and post the new calculation in an open period by choosing a reversal date in the open period. In this case, leave this check box cleared, which means that the program will use the WIP posting date in the job WIP entries as the posting date for the WIP G/L entries.

Hope this information answers your question.

    Dear Steve

    Thanks for your detailed explanation.

As I am new to use the WIP functions.  I have another questions regarding the  Reversal Posting Dates.

When I run Calculate WIP, after run, the system will pop up ask "Do you want to preview the posting accounts ?", then I click Yes.  And after viewed, I click Close.  And the system pop a message "You must run the Job Post WIP to G/L function to post the completion entries for this job.  Do you want to run this function now?", so I click yes and he WIP entries will post to G/L..  But in this case, the system did not ask me to enter the Reversal Posting Dates as you explained.

I am puzzled and it seemed its when I manually click Post WIP to G/L, the system allow me to enter the reversal posting dates.  Otherwise if the system automatically run to post, then no reversal dates are entered

Could you assist to share your thoughts?  Thank you.

    Hello,

Yes,, this is true. In BC, I normally click No, to the entry so I can can confirm the date and no for Reversal. You can see a WIP entry being reversed by looking at the Job WIP G/L Entries and the field Reverse is checked (see below).

These are my steps and yes the prompt in my demo database does the same thing but I like double-checking everything.

    Thanks
