Current employees have an inactive date of 1/1/1900, why?

In the employee maintenance window current employees show an inactive date of 00/00/00 until you check inactive box.  When run a smartlist that has a column for inactive date, the current employees have a date of 1/1/1900.  Is there a way to correct this or do I have to keep making the change in Excel after exporting the smartlist?

    Jan,

You can make 'Date Inactivated' in Employee Maintenance. Are you able to do it?

    Thanks

We can put a date in if inactive, but this is the date showing if the employee is still active, just wondering why when it should be 0 or blank

In SQL, all date fields in Dynamics GP are bound to a default called GP_DATE, and the value of GP_DATE is '1900-01-01', which means in the absence of data in a date field, the actual value stored in SQL is going to be '1900-01-01'.  What you're seeing is likely a byproduct of that.

GP_CHAR is bound to all char fields and assigns '' (empty string); GP_INT is bound to all integer fields and assigns 0; GP_MONEY is bound to all currency fields and assigns 0.00.

It sounds like this SmartList was created with SmartList Builder and the field option for Dates was not set. If you click on the little blue arrow the the right of Display Name, a window will open where you can check a box that says 'Display 1/1/1900 as blank'. If you check that box the problem will go away.

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

Thank you very much, I did not create this smartlist.  We are still learning.

Using GP 2013 - with smartlist builder - there are user ids that are inactive but the date inactivated still shows as 1/1/1900

We don't have HR or payroll - why do the dates not appear correctly?  (I don't want to just not have them appear)
