How to Create Contact from fields in a custom entity

I have a custom entity called Sample Request. I have created a ribbon button called Create Contact that runs a workflow to pull certain fields from the Sample Request into a new Contact form. It works great and creates the new contact! However, that newly created Contact is not yet associated with the Sample Request. I have a sub-grid on the Contact form that shows related Sample Requests, and after the new Contact is created, I can look up the Sample Request and add it. But how can I add the Sample Request automatically when I originally click Create Contact from the Sample Request form?

Thanks!

    Hello,

Everything depends on relationship between your entity and contact.

If it's 1-N then you just have to populate lookup field in your new contact in workflow designer.

If it's N-N then you will have to use custom workflow activity that can be used for Association of records through N-N relationship (github.com/.../v1.3.0.0)

It's N:1 relationship between Sample Requests and Contacts. In this example, it's really only 1:1. So when I create the new Contact from the Sample Request, how do I populate the lookup field in my workflow designer? I need the new Contact to show the Sample Request that was used to create it.

    I figured it out.

The key was to Update the Sample Request Record, and in the Contact field in the Sample Request record, add the new contact field that had been created in the same workflow.
