Dynamics GP 10 MRP multisites

Hi, we have just implemented manufacturing on GP 10, but we came with in issue, I will try to explain my self.

We have all our BOM's set so they use material from site "MP", all domestic purchases are made directly to this site. All our imports PO's are made to a site called "transfer" and they are received to this site as soon as they come in to our foreign commerce office and then we make an inventory transfer to transfer from site "transfer" to "MP".

The problem we have is that when we run our sales forecasting and MRP, it "ignores" all PO's that are made to the site "transfer", how can we make it so that MRP also looks into this site and take account of this PO's?

Has anyone came across something similar to this? Any ideas? is there something like a recepit but on "hold" and not available for use?

Thanks all.

    Alvaro -

Unfortunately, GP is a single site, supply/demand calculation. Your 'problem' is common.

    I'm experienced with 4 different workarounds -

    1. Create custom reports using the MRP data, presented in a format which an inventory planner can easily determine the 'true' ATP (available to promise) for any item for any given bucket (time frame).

    2. I have also used SQL to 'modify' the IV00102 table before MRP runs - in this workaround, the qty on hand in the 'transfer' site would be added to the 'mp' site (before MRP runs) - then MRP runs - MRP suggestions will be different (since we lumped qtys) - then after MRP runs - we revert the IV00102 table back to pre-MRP. Note this workaround assumes - no one is in GP doing transactions when MRP is run and has the risk of a system related problem resulting in the IV00102 not getting 'reset' - so it's a higher risk.

    3. Copy data from LIVE company into a TEST company - alter the data (add qtys as described in #2) - run MRP against the TEST company but use the results to plan for the LIVE company.

    4. One GP Reseller (Tectura) actually developed a dexterity based application that provides additional screens within GP to combine inventory sites (as mentioned in #2) - it's more eloquent and more expensive than #2.

Regarding custom reports - there is not enough time or space in this reply to detail all the different tables used - every mfg organization is uniquely similar - chances are any reports I've done in the past would need to be re-done to work for you.

If your partner has a good mfg resource (consultant) he/she will know the tables and would have worked around these limitations.

Thanks Bron, I was afraid that there was no "easy" workaround.
