Dimension Set ID duplication.

Dear all,

One of my client's Dimension Set Entry and Dimension Set Tree Node tables are messed up. The problem that they are facing is when they are entering a set of dimensions, for example, in General Journals, it automatically switches to another dimension combination because there are multiple Dimension Set ID's for the same combination.

Eg:

DIM 1: XXX, DIM 2: YYY, DIM SET ID: 7789.

Also,

DIM 1: XXX, DIM 2: YYY, DIM SET ID: 14678.

I thought of wiping the Dimension Set Entry and Dimension Set Tree Node tables, so let it begin from scratch. But the problem is historical data on ledgers, or if I want to fix it without wiping, then I have to fix it around 3000+ dimension combinations.

What approach should I take? Experiences, suggestions, ideas are welcome.

    that's a big problem.

i would rename one of the dimension sets, e.g. to xxx2 or something like that.

then you need to develope a codeunit/report to analyse where the renamed dimension set is used. then reset the dimension from xxx2 back to xxx, if needed.

    Hey Jonathan,

I am also thinking of archiving the current company and take a copy of it, wiping the Dimension Set Entry and Dimension Set Tree Node, and keep using it. So we will new Dimension Set IDs for the new company.

    Suggestions?
