Multicurrency Management; Does my company need to add setting for USD ONLY denominations

My company is a US based entity with no international subs, thus exchange rates from, say currency X to USD is N/A, however our IT staff came across a post suggesting we may STILL need to setup a functional currency to have a successful of install of Reporting Manager 2012. So my question is whether I need to set up a functional currency of USD under multicurrency window under Tools/Financial/Multicurrency? Again, as we are a national firm I wouldn't think so, however, even when I tried to setup USD multicurrency it wouldn't let me.
