System message 9 Item not found in journal transactions

A new account was created and shows in chart of accounts maintenance.  When trying to do a journal entry, the account number is not found, getting System Message 9 Item not found, please reenter.  I have tried resolution 9436 by changing the first description in the chart of accounts maintenance but that did not fix it.  Any suggestions?

I can pull up the account when I go to account history.

    Good morning Sharon,

I believe that your new Account doesn't get inserted into the AcctXref table of System database.

To my knowledge, This AcctXref table is automatically inserted while creation of new accounts in chart of accounts Maintenance screen.

Execute the below query in System Database to find out your new account in AcctXRef table.

Select * from AcctXRef where CpnyID = 'XXXXX' and Active = 1 and Acct Like 'XXXXX' order by CpnyID, Acct

Here XXXX is the company ID & Account Number.

Also use the below link http://support.microsoft.com/kb/871403/pt for your reference

    Hope this explains.

Another trick: Add a new account, such as 9999 TEST. Then delete this new account.  Or change an existing account description, save, and then change it back.  Usually those types of changes will trigger an update to the AcctXRef table that Perumalsamy noted.

Thanks for both your responses.  I ran the query and the account does not show up.  I tried inserting a new account and it does not show either in the script and I get the same message when trying to use it in journal transactions.  Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi John,

I tried this and the new account does not show up either.  Any other thoughts?

    Hi Perumalsamy,

I ran this and the account does not show up.  I added another new account and it does now show either.  I tried changing an existing account description also but no luck.

    Hello Sharon,

Do you have multi-company setup in Dynamics SL? If Yes, Did you try to create the Chart of Accounts from Master company?

Yes, I have multi company.  I had not tried it in the main company but have since done so and nothing I add shows up in the AcctXref.

    Thanks

    Sharon

You are saying that you have already added the new account using Charts of Accounts Maintenance through Main company but that does not work too.
