Exporting PVs

Hi,

We are upgrading from SL7 to SL2015 and want to review the existing modified PV's to determine if these still required. We know the PVRec table contains all the PV names but doesn't appear to contain the PV statements.

Does anyone know a way to export PVs or obtain the content of the PVs?

Bruce

Here's what I do.  Find the pvrec.csv file in your installation in the DB/csvs folder (hopefully, it has not been modified).  Run a "select * from pvrec" SQL statement from the SL7 Production System DB, then copy contents (maybe up to 500 rows at a time) to the following URL (ttdsinc.com/.../index.jsp), which will convert to .csv format.  Copy results to Notepad and save as .csv file.  Repeat until you have all the rows converted.  Then, use a tool like ExamDiff (www.prestosoft.com/edp_download.asp) to compare the two .csv files to see where the differences are.

If the standard PVRec file has been modified (check the file date), then get the original from your SL7 CD.

As a best practice, never modify the original pvrec.csv file.  Always keep any custom pvrec modifications in a separate .csv file to use for future reference, upgrades, re-installations, etc.
