Is it possible to include a prediction column in a quantity-based sales forecast?

Hi everyone,

I’ve configured a sales forecast in Dynamics 365 based on quantity instead of revenue.

However, I noticed that the prediction column (which typically appears in revenue-based forecasts) is missing in this setup.

Is it possible to include a prediction column in a quantity-based sales forecast?

If so, could anyone guide me on how to enable or configure it properly?

Thanks in advance for your help!

No ,you cannot enable the OOB AI prediction column for quantity-based forecasts in Dynamics 365 Sales. Prediction is only available for revenue forecasts. To get prediction for quantity, you’d need to extend with custom AI or calculated columns.

    Hi,
In Dynamics 365 Sales, the **prediction column** in forecasts is available by default for revenue-based forecasts when predictive forecasting is enabled. However, for **quantity-based forecasts**, the prediction column is not currently supported out of the box. The predictive forecasting feature is designed to work with revenue metrics and does not extend to quantity-based forecasts as of now.
If predictive insights on quantities are essential for your scenario, you might consider:
    - Creating a **custom calculated column** using Power Automate or Power Apps to estimate or predict quantities based on historical data.
    - Using **Power BI** to build a separate predictive model and visualize the results alongside your forecast.
You can find more details in the official documentation on predictive forecasting in Dynamics 365 Sales.

Please verify if this clarifies the current capabilities and possible alternatives.
    Thanks and best regards,
    Daniele

No, the prediction column is only available for revenue-based forecasts in Dynamics 365 Sales today.

Forecast predictions are powered by AI models that work with the revenue field on opportunities. If your forecast is based on quantity, the prediction column will not appear because the model does not generate predictions for quantities.
If you still need AI-based projections for quantity, you have two options:
    > Use a custom AI model (Azure ML or Power BI predictive model) to predict quantities and write those predictions back to a custom field on the opportunity. You can then include that field in your quantity-based forecast layout.
    > Switch the forecast back to revenue-based if you want to use Microsoft’s built-in AI prediction column.

    Thanks
