ELECTRONIC BANK RECONCILIATION

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hello all -

I'm processing an automatic bank reconciliation from the electronic bank rec function in GP, version is 10.00  :-(

It's taking forever (so far more than 8hrs to upload the transactions in the bank rec module). The file is very large though (51000 records). The problem is that I don't know if it's processing since I'm only seeing the hour glass and the progress tab in GP says "Not Responding". I've seen that happen on smaller uploads and it finally completed after around 5hrs. I can also see the Dynamics.exe application in Windows task manager move between 0 to 1% on CPU usage. Can it be an indication that the job is processing and can GP handle 51000 records to reconcile?

Thanks!

Dan/Heather - thank you for your responses! I let it run and when I came in the next morning, it had finished processing and the bank rec went fine. So just like you both pointed out, it takes a long time with version 10. Since this was only a one time thing, no need to acquire a 3rd party product.

    Thanks again!

In terms of finding out whether it is processing, if you have the Support Debugging Tool installed, you may be able to start and stop SQL tracking to see what it is doing.  I used that approach when I was running inventory reconcile on a site where it took about 50 odd hours to complete.

The other option would be to query the table in SQL and see if the number of records is increasing.

If I remember correctly the bank tables in 10 are not indexed so when you have a lot of records (like you do) it is brutally slow.  Can you upgrade?  Or look at maybe nolans bank rec which I think does it at the GL level.
