Hi All
I'm trying to improve the attachment experience as AFAIK you have to create a note to attach which I think is not the experience. so I created a grid on the quote as below but I cannot add new attachments (can see if attached from notes). Has anyone got ideas or other apps that help attachments?
I have the same question (0)

    Hello Samantha,

I have found some solutions for your problem:

    1. Using the Timeline Control (Recommended)

    • Instead of using a custom grid, leverage the Timeline control on the form, which allows users to directly add attachments via activities like emails and notes.
    • You can configure it to show attachments more prominently.

    Steps to check:

    1. Go to Form Editor > Add the Timeline component.
    2. Configure it to show only relevant activities (e.g., notes with attachments).
    3. Users can drag and drop files directly into the timeline.

    2. Custom Subgrid for Attachments (Document Table)

If you've added a subgrid to the Quote form, ensure it's linked to the correct Entity that supports file uploads (e.g., Document entity or a custom entity with attachment support).

    Steps to fix grid issues:

    1. Verify the subgrid's Data Source (it should point to the right entity, e.g., "Annotation" for attachments).
    2. Ensure the security roles allow create/upload permissions.
    3. If it's not working, consider using the SharePoint integration (see below).

    3. Enable SharePoint Integration (Best for File Management)

Instead of relying on Dynamics for file storage, integrate with SharePoint, which provides a better attachment experience with version control and sharing capabilities.

    Steps to enable:

    1. Navigate to Settings > Document Management > Enable SharePoint Integration.
           2. Once enabled, users can upload documents directly to the record via the "Documents" tab instead of Notes.

If you have any query regarding any approach, please let me know.

If you find this any helpful, please consider approving this answer.

    Regards,

I've found Custom PCF Controls are an easy to implement and great way to achieve functionality like this. I don't have experience with the one linked below, but it looks like it should meet your use case by providing a drag and drop area for files to be uploaded. It will still use the notes in the backend to store the files (since that is how CRM is set up to handle attachments), but it makes it much more user friendly.

PCF Controls are often installed through a solution that you can add in your environment, and then you configure the control to the form in question. The link to download this solution is on the right of the GitHub link from that site. If you have questions or problems installing the control, or need a step by step guide, let me know. I'll try to keep an eye on replies here.
