Sharing records through Workflow

Hello,

What I'd like to accomplish is when an Account is assigned to particular user, that it gets shared with their team. This particular user is in a different business unit above them and has additional rights that the others don't have so I don't want to open it up more than this.

I've found documentation to support doing this through a custom .NET workflow. Is there any way I can do this without that just through Workflow and out of the box configuration?

Thanks,

Brianna

Have you looked at this workflow tools solution. Custom but you don't need to develop it.

    msdyncrmworkflowtools.codeplex.com

It adds capability to share from a workflow. (And other things!)

    Hi Neil,

No I haven't, thank you for passing that along!

    Have you used this before?

Hello Brianna - To answer your question - No, sharing cannot be done via OOTB workflow. This scenario would require some custom code. You could find custom assemblies (plugins/custom workflows) solution available over internet for it which is again a custom code written by some one else, but again would need to be managed by you only if requires any change in future.

I have used these workflow tools several times. For example, in the last week I used the one to calculate roll up fields from a workflow. I have never had any problems with them.

Great, thank you Neil and Shantnu.

We'll look into these options and decide what will work best for us.

    Hi Brianna

I am not aware of any OOB solution for this. This must be achieved via a custom code. Neil's link here seems appropriate.
