I am upgrading GP from GP10 SP2 to GP2013. I have already upgrade GP to 10.00.1779. When I am trying to upgrade to GP2013, the upgrade for DYNAMICS Database went fine. However,GP Utilities hangs and does not respond for hours when it starts to upgrade the companies. When I checked the SQL Profiler, there is no activity going on.
Any ideas/thoughts are highly welcome.

Jonathan, fortunately we are doing this in a test environment first. We had waited six hours and when I did not see any activity in SQL Profiler I decided to stop it. I did some other snooping and noticed they had 6 companies in the SY001500 table but on their server was only DYNAMICS and their company database. I have run the ClearCompany script and am now doing the upgrade over again. It may have gotten stuck on a company that did not even exist.

If they are not using FA then you are not running into this issue. Are you sure the upgrade is not just working on a large table like the GL30000? Did you do a test upgrade? How long have you been waiting? How many records are in the GL30000 table?
I too am at the same impasse doing a GP 10(10.00.1868) to GP 2013 (12.00.1482) upgrade. When I go into SQL Profiler I see no activity at all. They do have Fixed Assets installed and the tables are there but they are not using that module. Who can I contact about "Test customization/workaround for CR 10647 – FA00902 takes a really long time to update to GP 2013"?
Renjan if you need the workaround please open a support case for this. Since this is a bug you would not be charged for the case.

Thanks for the reply. I checked with support and there is a known issue with upgrading to GP 2013 and large FA tables. They provided me a work around. If anyone needs it reference

Hi Tom,
Since the customer confirmed that they are not using FA module, I removed FA Data and ran the upgrade. It went smoothly. :)
