I'm trying to set up a copy of our live GP setup in a virtual environment.
Our live database is SQL 2005, and we're running GP 10 SP4.
For the test environment, I'm running windows xp, sql 2008 express, gp 10 sp4, and copied our company and Dynamics databases. When I try to run GP utilities for the first time, after logging in, I get the following report:
Your Current SQL Server is not a supported version
Req: MS SQL 8.0
Act: MS SQL 2008 R2
You need to upgrade to SQL Server 8.0 before continueing.
Do I need to go back to SQL 2005, or can I make this work?

Thanks, unfortunately I don't believe that was the issue.
I "upgraded" to Ms SQL 2005, like dynamics suggested. Now when I run GP Utilities, it tells me I need to upgrade the GP system database. OK.
It then asks for the DYNSA user password.I enter it, then it says it's ready to begin. And I hit Finish, the dialog boxes simply disappear and nothing happens; no error, no feedback, just an empty utilities screen.
Update: This problem was caused due to lacking the DYNSA
user in the copied database.
The amount of feedback for both these problems is staggeringly lacking in detail.
You have made the following selections:
UPGRADE Data device size :
Options:
Database Data Space: 0 MB
Database Log Space: 0 MB
SQL Server Information
Name : JORIS-VIRTUAL\SQLEXPRESS
Version : Microsoft SQL Server 2005 - 9.00.1399.06 (Intel X8
Does this help?
