Restoring recently changed option set

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

A client recently made changes to a global option set some were removed and others were updated. The display names were changed, but the values remained the same. Is there a way to restore or gather the previous list of options and restore the list without restoring a backup?

Unfortunately this was not done in a solution and there was no previous documentation of the list of options

Will it the old values still be listed in the StringMap?

You don't have to restore from backup, you could just look up the table in the database. It used to be StringMap, I'm not sure if that's still the correct table.  Once you find your option sets, just manually rename them back.

Unfortunately, if any were removed, you'd still lose those.  Though in theory you could figure out which ones are missing and maybe pull those from the database backup without doing a full restore.
