Smartlist window won't open for specific user.

I am on GP 2013 SP2 and all of a sudden my power user is unable to open the smartlist window. Any ideas what could have caused this?

The window won't open for this user on any workstation but still works fine for other users and sa.

Thank you,

Kirk Livermont

    Hi Sanjay,

My issue is different than the one described in the link you provided. The smartlist window itself (not the search window) fails to open. I haven't been able to get the window to open using a shortcut or by navigating to Microsoft Dynamics GP--Smartlist.

    Thanks,

    Kirk

    Kirk,

Not sure if this is the issue that you are seeing, but I've had this happen a few times for myself, so I thought I would mention it. I had what appeared to be a similar issue - I would click on the SmartList menu option and nothing would happen. At first I thought something went wrong, I restarted GP, even rebooted my computer. Then I noticed that when I checked the list of windows on the taskbar, SmartList was actually open, it just was not visible for some reason (I move windows around a lot, so maybe I had inadvertently moved if off the screen). Right clicking on the window in the taskbar and choosing Maximize brought SmartList back up.

    Hi Victoria,

Thank you for your suggestion unfortunately the window is not hidden it fails to open altogether.

I know what this is Kirk! I actually had a case on this a few weeks back. In GP 2013 we are now storing the window settings in a table, the SY01402 table. When I ran a select on that table for syDefaulttype = '96' the value for SA was different then other users. I was able to update that value which fixed the issue. This is logged as a bug as we should do a check to make sure this is valid. That is looking at being fixed in SP3. Here is an example of the update statement I used but it could be different for yours:

    update sy01402 set SYUSERDFSTR = 'TRUE~506~792~1~1~177~' where USERID = 'sa' and syDefaultType = '96'

My apologies as I did not keep the solution to this issue.  In some cases, especially when a new company is created by restoring another company, the security in eXtender does not update properly.  eOne is aware of this and expecting to fix it.  Until then, call eOne and their support team will send you a script to fix this.

Jonathan, but I didn't find syDefaultType = '96'  in this table and my smartlist explorer is opening.

Kirk, nothing happens all of the sudden specially with GP. : )

You must did something unrelated, unnoticed to that GP user setting or anything else which stops opening of smartlist only for this user.

just try this may be you got any message so we will get any clue.

add smart list window in shortcut and then try to open it. right click on shortcut pan and press Add then Add Window.

Scroll to botton, find Smartlist and press Add button and then Done button.

Now try to open window by clicking on shortcut.

    Hi Jonathan,

I ran the following select statement and found that the SYUSERDFSTR value was different for each user although the value for the affected user was quite a bit different than the others. I went ahead and opened a support case to get this resolved.

    USE DYNAMICS

    select * from sy01402 where syDefaultType = '96'

    Thanks,

    Kirk
