excel templates and smart list

hi folks

New controller wants to have all spreadsheets to reference prepared by and file location. We can do this by changing the excel template.

Our GP runs on a terminal server. So I need to put that template into the terminal server. When I open an excel workbook on the terminal server I get the footer that I want.

When I use smart list and export to excel I do not get the footer that I want. Can anyone tell me if smart list is accessing Excel in a way that it uses the default user template and if so where that template is stored?
