Custom Reports CRM V9 On Premises

ReportReport

I created a bog standard report in CRM and down loaded it to VS2015 to edit the report. When trying to save the report I encountered an error on the version number, which I can understand. I then decided to try and edit the report directly on the report server using the report builder. I quite naively expected the saved and published report to be the report that is displayed when clicking on the report in CRM, but no it was still the original report. I then tried downloading the report rdl direct from reporting services to import in CRM .. but this threw up errors as well.

So the question is, how and what platforms should I be using to create a report to import into CRM V9.

CRM Server Windows 2016, CRM Version 9

SQL Server Windows 2016 , SQL Server version 2016

    Hi,

Did you check report writing requirement here: docs.microsoft.com/.../report-writing-environment-using-sql-server-data-tools

    Hi,

I had a brief look at that and have tried to install the SQL data tolls but I got  error 34A4:2DB8][2019-01-17T17:41:49]: Error 0x80070666: Cannot install a product when a newer version is installed. On this develop  machine I have vs2012 / vs2015 and vs2017 installed. In report property page I have the target version set to SQL Server 2016 or later, so I am at a loss as to what the issue is.

Those tool versions should work. Can you post more details of the error that you get when you try to save the report to CRM ? The Reporting Services log files or CRM tracing may give more information

    Hi,

Ended up working through last night cleaning everything off my laptop and re-installing VS2015 and the associated bits .. works like a charm now :)
