Cash Drawer not opening when cash is tendered

We have a POS system set up with an EPSON TM-T88IV attached to a cash drawer (model unknown.) Whenever a sale is set up and cash is tendered the receipt prints but the drawer will not open for change.  When I go into wordpad and send an "a" command to print using the control font the drawer pops open with no issue.  It appears the register printer isn't set up properly in the Dynamics POS software but I am unclear of where to start checking to make sure it's set up right.

Any ideas of where to start from to test this?

In addition, your cash receipt printer (epson) should have specialty drivers.  In the drivers menu there is an option to send a signal to the drawer to kick out.

     How it works:

Point of sale software rings up item.  Sale is closed out.  POS software sends signal to receipt printer to print.  Receipt printer prints and sends signal to release the solenoid holding the cash drawer close... this releases the cash drawer.

    Hope this helps.

You need to go into the Epson OPOS driver utility and set up the Drawer and also name the drawer.  Once you have done that and get that working you need to go into the Store Operations Manager then go to Database-Registers-Register list.  Then make sure that the register in question has the box checked "cash drawer 1" then double click on the register and then click on the tab that says "cash drawer 1" make sure that box is checked and that you put the name of the cash drawer that you named it in the OPOS driver utility in the field provided.  Then everything should work.
