Hi All

Can Dynamics 365 for Field Services be used by an organisation to service its own assets instead of a customers assets.

I am familiar with D365 F&O and the asset management module but after having a look at the Field Service capabilities ( especially the Predictive Maintenance and IoT enablement) I am interested to find out if Field services can be configured to service and organisations own assets?

I have the same question (0)

    Hi Mohamed,

The Field Service amains to track and manage only the customer assests.

To learn more about Asset management in D365 Field Service: docs.microsoft.com/.../configure-set-up-customer-assets

However, you migth in this situation be able to achieve your goal by setting the Service Account with the data details of your Organization. In this situation your organization will be seen by the system as a customer

No, the Field Services cannot be used to service the organisation's own assets.

It can service the assets of the customers only.

Why would you strictly answer this with "no"? I don't think there's only black and white here and we do have customers using FS to service their own equipment.

We have done this before, but it's not directly supported by the platform. What we're doing in inserting a default account on all work orders, which represent the customers own organization. All assets are owned by this account.

As the address on the account by default are used for scheduling of work orders, we copy the address/coordinates from the asset onto the work order using a plugin. In that way, the location of the asset is used for scheduling.

It's pretty annoying that this isn't supported in a better way by Microsoft. It should be such a small change to make the address of assets be used for work order scheduling.

    Have a look at cloudblogs.microsoft.com/.../ and docs.microsoft.com/.../assets-functional-location
