Error Message while deleting a journal

Deletion of draft Overtime journal with no lines in the transaction is throwing an error as below. 

" Overtime journal table cannot be deleted while dependent Benefit journal trans exist. Delete dependent Benefit journal trans and try again "

    Can you share details of the journal especially where you created and opened that journal and how it is setup?

    Hi Ludwig,

    I am working on HR  Module. This is overtime journal.

    1. We have created a new module

    ->journals->Overtime Journal

    2. Create new journal

    3. Try to delete

    Hi Ludwig,

    I also noticed one thing. There  is a workflow assigned to “Overtime Journal”. When I deactivated the workflow, then I was able to delete the journal.

    Hello Anubha,

    Good that you found at least a short-term fix.

    To avoid similar issues in the future, it might be necessary to adjust your new module functionalities because it does not seem to be a good solution deactivating the workflow when you want to delete a journal.

    Customer has demanded that we should not stop the workflow. The journal should get deleted which active workflow.

    Hi Anubha,

    Right.

    Yet, the module is something that is not available in the standard application. The same holds for the journal.

    For that reason, you need to talk to the developer who created that to identify when and how those journals can be deleted.

    They might be able to create a function that ends the workflow and deletes the journal once users press a delete button.

    All of this needs, however, a careful process design and developement that you need to discuss with the one who created the functionality.
