I am trying to setup the integration between SL 7.0 FP1/S4 and MS Project 2007 server. I receive the follwing error when starting the integration service;

Error accessing the PSI Proxy - Project Server URL:  http://servernamel/PWA/_vti_bin/psi/Microsoft.Dynamics.SL.MSP.CustomPSI.asmx The request failed with HTTP status 404: Not Found.

I also receive this error when entering the pwa site in the Microsoft Connector Setup screen:

Error 1686: Unable to connect to the Microsoft Connector CustomPSI or the connector extension not installed or project server url is invalid.

WSS 3.0 SP2 and MS office server sp2 is installed and I installed the connector from SL 7.0 SP4. The service user is setup in SL and in project server 2007 with administrative rights. Also SL has been setup with windows authentication.

Any help is appreciated.

Carolyn

    Hello Carolyn,

There KB articles covering various error situations with Connector.  Did you look at KB 2023749?  Let me know if you still need assistance after reviewing the article.

    Hello Carolyn,

I have tried the resolutions listed in KB 2023749. What's interesting is that if I enter the url:

http://kendall/pwa/_vti_bin/PSI/microsoft.dynamics.sl.msp.custompsI.asmx, I receive "server error in '/sharedservices1/psi/microsoft.dynamics.sl.msp.custompsi.amx', the resource cannot be found.

    Hi Carolyn,

Are their any other suggestions besides KB 2023749?

    Hi Carolyn,

Based on your URL, your project server machine is called Kendall.  Is that correct?

Is this machine also running the Connector service or is that on a separate machine?

Are you logged into the Kendall machine when entering the URL that you have above?

Are you able to get to the PWA site without a problem?

If you go into Add/Remove Programs, select Microsoft Office Project 2007 Connector for Microsoft Dynamics SL, click Change, select Modify, is Project Connector Extension listed?

Let me know what you find.

    Carolyn K,

I belive it is an access rights issue. The user has access admin rights on the pwa site and has been setup as an administrator on the domain. What are your thoughts?

    Hi Carolyn,

Sorry for the delay.  I was out of town.  Why do you think it is a permissions issue?  You could try and check the items below.

    1. You could check if the ssp has the correct credentials

You need to go into Shared Services Administration in Sharepoint, and find the shared service you used for projectserver when you provisioned the website.

Once you find it, you need to Edit Properties click out to the right of (for instance) sharedservices1 and go to edit properties.  there is a section on the properties page toward the bottom:

Process Accounts with access to this SSP

This field is automatically populated when Web applications are associated with this SSP. Use this field to grant new process accounts rights to this SSP or to remove existing accounts' rights to this SSP.

New process accounts should be appended to the existing list and must be in the form Domain\Username.

The serviceuser needs to be one of the users with access to the ssp.

    -------------------------

    2. Has the ServiceUser been granted “Log on as a service” right on the machine running the connector service?  See the note at the top of page 75 (I think)  of the install guide on how to grant this right.

    Carolyn,

Both options have been completed and I am still unable to access the url or start the project connector service.

    Hi Carolyn,

At this point, it would be best for you to open a support case.  We can't take this much further with the limited options of the forum.
