Reporting Finished Quantities on Multiple Resources for the Same Operation in PFE

Hello experts,

I’m currently facing a scenario and would appreciate your guidance.

We have a route operation called Cutting, which is the final step in the production route. This operation can be performed on either Cutting 1 or Cutting 2 machines. The preferred resource is Cutting 1, but if Cutting 2 is available, it can also be used. This decision may be made even after the production order has been started (status = Started). In case Cutting 1 breaks down, Cutting 2 should be used as a fallback.

In practice, around 90% of the time, only Cutting 1 is used for this process.
The client needs to be able to report quantity as finished on both Cutting 1 and Cutting 2 (as far as I know, that means it can't be a secondary operation).

Please note:
  • The client is not using finite capacity.
  • The client does not rely on the system for automatic operation scheduling.
  • The client is using the Production Floor Execution (PFE) interface.
Has anyone dealt with a similar setup? What would be the best approach to handle this scenario in Dynamics 365 F&O?
Thank you in advance for your support.

    Hello

If finite is not used , than you can change the resource, from route resource requirement.

Thank you for your response, Ranjanj! That helped solve the issue of changing the resource while production is already running.

However, I’m still trying to figure out how to run both resources at the same time, even though my default route isn’t configured for parallel operations.
Here’s what I’ve tried so far, by modifying the operation on the PBO route:
    • Changed the resource load quantity to 2
    • Assigned a capability to the resource requirements that includes both resources
    • Set the priority of both resources to 0
    • In the PBO’s route, the minimum level needed is also set to 0
Despite these changes, only one resource is being used and 1 job was created at a time after scheduling jobs. Is there a way to allow both resources to run simultaneously under these conditions? Keeping in mind that we need to report quantity as finished on both resources.

Any insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks in advance,
