One of the requirements for our portal is the ability for a portal session to timeout. Have been unable to locate any information about the ability to have the portal timeout with the exception of this article from the old community: session time out on adx studio.
Based on the directions it is possible for on premise solutions but unfortunately we are using the new version 8.
Has anyone found a way to timeout a session for SaaS model?

what sort of authentication method are you using?
Local?
external IDP?
If you are using an external IDP while using ACS as a trust for example you can force a complete signout from ACS. This cleans the browser sessions and signs the user out cleanly.
One of my projects had the same issue, where by users where unable to sign out completely from either Chrome or IE. Built on version 7.0....22, the saving grace was that it was on Prem and we were able to come up with a custom solution programmatically.
There is no true solution to this at this point for v8, with v7 there was no solution , it is resolved by lots of analysis and programming the back end and your federated identity (if used).
but im very keen on this going forward
