Management Reporter and Account Numbers

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Anyone been able to devise a way to show account numbers and not the Segment1=00+Segment2=1000,...?

As I move from FRx to MR that is going to be come an issue.

Warren

RE: Management Reporter and Account Numbers

I think the trick is to modify your Column Set.  On the Column Definition, add a new column as your first column and modify the Column Type row to say ACCT. That should do it.

Not sure if I am a little late in this reply, but I just figured someone may still need an answer/workaround here. I ended up creating a single line on a Row Format called Trial Balance and assigned all of the account numbers to that line. Now, I can generate the report and print the Account Level Detail report which has the account numbers listed without the dimension info.

We are working on a change to Management Reporter for the next release that will allow you to choose whether dimension descriptions are printed in the column or not. This release is scheduled for first half of 2012.

Re: Management Reporter and Account Numbers

If you only choose account level detail in the report definition, then you will achieve your goal. I have our income statement set up to pull only certain account categories. I have the account level detail chosen and I export straight to excel. What comes out is exactly what you said, the first column is acct number, then account description, etc. No drill down. It looks exactly as a TB would look. You can email me if you would like me to send you screen shots. I am on the most current version of Management Reporter, so maybe this functionality is new?

Karlie, you are correct on the way it works.  The big problem is that you have to drill down from the financial report to the account report and then you only see the accounts linked to that row in the financial report.

What I am seeking is a report (exported to excel) that is basically a trial balance in excel.   Columns would be: Acct Number, Acct Name, Beg Bal., Period 1 change, Period 2 change, ..... Ending Balance.

A common request from Auditors is a trial balance in excel (including account numbers).   Easy to do in Frx and smart list does not do it.

It appears that MR is not end user friendly as Frx.

If anyone has a way to do this, then please post it.   Thanks.

I am able to pull full account #'s when I select the account detail level on the report definition. This is the same as in FRx. The Financial detail level will show you only the row's criteria, which are segments in MR. The account level will print the full account number (with the dashes).

Nothing yet, so I guess the problem remains with MR.
