I need to segment my project numbers into 2 segments: customer (6 characters) and project (any arbitrary number). I tested adding a new project using a customer that was less than 6 characters, and it gave me error 6934 "Attempting to set text control to an invalid value". I got the error after entering the segments on the supplemental screen. If I try to type in the number, it won't let me enter anything after the dash.
Does the customer segment have to always contain the full 6 characters?

As far as I remember, the customer segment in the project number must match the code type established for customers in Code File Maintenance and Code Type Maintenance.
