RDLC - Report item expressions can only refer to report items within the same ReportSection.

ReportReport

Hello,

I'm working on editing reports and encountered an issue I havn't been able to solve yet. I have a report, a standerd CMR report and want to delete some columns.

I first noticed the hidden values.

In the header a value named /Value_CustomerAddress_5/ exists, added with custom expression.

The ISSUE: I noticed that the hidden values in the table and the value in the header are correlated but don't know why. When I delete the column the expression breaks and when I test the report an error appears:
/Rendering output for the report failed and the following error occurred:
The Value expression for the text box ‘Value_CustomerAddress_5_Header’
refers to the report item ‘Value_CustomerAddress_5’. Report item
expressions in a Page Header or Footer can only refer to report items
within the same ReportSection. Letters in the names of report items must
use the correct case./

if you need any more context, ask away. A thank you in advance.

Hi, please do not delete these columns directly, this will cause problems. I think the following operation may also cause problems. But you can try hiding it first.
PS: This is one of the things that makes the RDLC unpopular ......

    Hope this helps.
    Thanks.

If you don't understand RDLC, then do not delete columns ;-)
ReportItems is the collection of all textboxes in the Body of the report. You can use it to show a value from a textbox in the Body of the report on the Header of the report, because the report header can not reference the dataset directly. Deleting the textbox breaks the expression.
