Phantom Items

We have found a problem when we estimate for a phantom part number.  The financial dimensions assigned to the resource requirements on the phantom item are not correct when a production order is estimated.  They appear to be swapped.  Example Resource Requirement 5002lbr22 when you look it up in the Resources form shows the financial dimension of 5002 Department.  But when the item post to the route, the financial dimension posts as 5036.  When the Requirement posts for 5036lbr22 the financial dimension post with 5002. The resource requirement of 5002lbr22 and 5036lbr22 are correct, it is the financial dimension that is wrong.  Has anyone had this problem?  It only happens with phantom item numbers.

    Hi Adney,

Can you elaborate? Where did you setup dimension 5002 and 5036? A phantom item will be completely gone when starting the project, so this could be the reason why dimensions are also lost. From your post, I don't know how it would be possible to reproduce it. So please provide some more details.

You dont actually make the phantom, the route is part of the parent element that explodes through, it can append the route from memory but it gets mixed up so I thought best practice was not to have the route at that level. I would need to check, but can you validate you setup here, how you have configured the route and how it is linked to the parent where the production and ultimately resource requirement is realised. Can we have some screenshots of the setup?

I have added the screen shots

Part A is listed as a phantom on the BOM for Part B.

Part B has on its route line a Run time category of 5036, Resource requirement of 5036Lbr22 and no Costing resource specified with 2 hours of credit

Resource 5036Lbr22 has cost category 5036 listed in both the Run time category and Financial dimensions department box.

Part A (the phantom) has on its route line a Run time category of 5002, Resource requirement of 5002Lbr22 and no Costing resource specified with 1 hours of credit

Resource 5002Lbr22 has cost category 5002 listed in both the Run time category and Financial dimensions department box.

You press "use rich formatting" below the rely box and there are more controls including inserting pictures.

Why have you put a route against the phantom? You dont make it the route element should be against the parent? Also need to see where you are specfying the dimensions and what dimensions are on the order before and after estimation.
