I posted this in the newsgroup but thought others might see it here...
Everyday, at around the same time, usually between 5-6pm, conveniently after
I already went home we get a 'Database Connection lost, application will be
closed, error # 2147467259.'
I followed the SQL checklist Jeff provided, but it seems to be something
else...
Is this an auto close problem? I checked the main server database and this
is set to off.
Does this have to do with the offline databases, or the fact that some
machines are running different versions of SQL?
We have about 20 machines with RMS installed, so I wonder if it's one
particular machine, any way to find this out?
I appreciate your help.

I would prefer to solve the issue on Teamviewer, last time similar issue was resolved. I have to check your SQL server configuration. My skype is akberalwani, I can help anytime.
AKVERALWANI, could you post instruction how?
Thanks,
-Danny
Do you want me to do teamviewer to your machine/server to resolve this issue. I can help in these if you want.
I was just checking to see if anyone has managed to resolve this issue. We have been having this issue since January and have not been able to find a fix to date. Any suggestions would help. I have opened an case with Microsoft and with 2 different partners with no results. We are using SO and HQ 2.0.0163. SQL 2008 r2
I think this is network issue, you just need to check and restart your routers/swithchs and check cables plugins.
also this may be from the firewalls.

http://www.fact.fm/viewforum.php?f=30I am using Server 2008 with SQL 2005 and have the following problem on a consistent basis:
The POS terminals lose their SQL connection every single night on every terminal. I have checked the NIC cards and chaged a couple from the motherboard intrface to card in a slot with no effect at all. I've checked that the NIC are set not to shut down. The more disturbing problem is that sometime these POS terminals will get an SQL disconnect problem in the middle of ringing a transaction. Most times we just have to restart RMS but sometime the RMS will not come up and we have to go into task manager which shows RMS as not responding and have to stop the task before RMS will restart. I am glad to see thta I am not the only person with Server 2008 SQL problems. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. My RMS partner has never seen this before or so he says.
Does this happen whne the internet connection closes? I've had the same problem on
some of my Dialup and Wireless sites when the internet closes. It database connection closes.
We're using SQL 2005 on the server, although I think one machine uses 2008 for it's offline, I'll have to check if that's causing the problem.
I just call a call from a manager and he just got this message, but it didn't happen to anyone else, logged into his computer and saw the error message, clicked okay and it kicked me out, but I could reconnect right away.
I replaced a couple of POS stations awhile ago, wondering if I set them up wrong, could this maybe be a DNS issue? Or DHCP? It seems like a inactivity timeout, because that's when it seems to happen.
....I'm going to pull my hair out. I'm sure I set something up wrong,
I appreciate your help.
Recently learned that opening up ports 1433 and 1434 when using SQL 2008 R2 addresses this issue.
Give that a try - hope it helps.
Scott,
I am getting the same type of error , at around 5-7pmI have all the registers hard ip'd and on the 2008 R2 server i was thinking of turning off the dhcp services on the server hopefully thinking that at the same time dhcp sees other machines not in the ADS and is kicking them out.
