ODBC connection error! Please help

I'm trying to create an ODBC data source. Goal is to import data from Microsoft Access database. Following are General source data format.

DSN Type: System DSN

DSN Location: Client

Name: xxx

Connection String: Driver=Driver do Microsoft Access (*.mdb);DBQ=Z:\ESI_Data.mdb;Description=ESI database;DriverId=25;FIL=MS Access;PWD=;SafeTransactions=0;UID=Admin;ImplicitCommitSync=;MaxBufferSize=2048;PageTimeout=5;Threads=3;UserCommitSync=Yes;

Validate:

System Name: xxx

Error Message when Validate is: Test Connection failed-ERROR[IM002][Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager]Data source name not found and no default driver specified.

Any help will be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

I experienced the same issue while trying to access SQL Server via OdbcConnection. At the end the problem was where I created the ODBC. The ODBC should be in the AOS server. I created it in the client where I run AX client. Did you try it?

    1.

OS is windows server 2008 R2 64 bit

I solved this with following workflow:

    - Open %SystemRoot%\SysWOW64

    - Open odbcad32.exe (32 bit ODBC Data Source administration)

Followed above steps in the AX DMF

Set up System DSN with ODBC Microsoft Access Setup

    DSN Location is Client

Selected Database from Local C drive with .mdb files in a folder.

    Selected Network Drives

Created ODBC type in Source data formats but when validated the path on connection string, gets error message!

"Test Connection failed-ERROR[IM002][Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager]Data source name not found and no default driver specified"

So after so many attempts I can't seem to get this to work.

    2.

Another alternative I'm thinking about is converting Access 97 database to SQL server database. Anybody has done this sort of migration?

Any help will be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

RE: ODBC connection error! Please help

I had this problem with Dynamics ax DMF (Data import export framework) source data formats when DSN type was System DSN. While User DSN was working. I added system DSN in windows ODBC Data Source administration. AX was throwing nullreferenceexception error.

OS is windows server 2008 R2 64 bit

I solved this with following workflow:

    - Open %SystemRoot%\SysWOW64

    - Open odbcad32.exe (32 bit ODBC Data Source administration)

    - Set up system DSN there

Now Dynamics ax DMF can see both DSN (64 bit and 32 bit)

    Hi Lhadol,

Which Os? Windows Server 2008 r2? Version 64bit or 32bit? Try to run as administrator.
