Workflow hierarchy participant vs hierarchy based on fin dim

Hi,

I have the business requirement for approval of requisition based on a approval matrix:

- Every department will have at least one position of  C-level, director, manager, employee

- Based on the amount of the requisition, the Approval can escalate to C-level

manager can approve up to 500

director can approve up to 3000

c-level can approve anything beyond 3000

the department is a financial dimension

Example: if John smith , employee level enters a PO requisition for 1500 for Dept A, then we need to get the approval of the manager of dept A and the director of dept A.

In D365 we can have only one 'owner' for a fin dim value.

The feature of manager level 1,2,3 in workflow is based on employee position hierarchy. However the request here is based on a hierarchy within department represented by financial dimension.

The setup of signing limit would work, if it can be based on financial dimension multi level owners.for now it can be based on job or compensation level.

Any workarounds(without customization)?

Thanks

Sam

    Hi Sam,

    You already found that
The feature of manager level 1,2,3 in workflow is based on employee position hierarchy. However the request here is based on a hierarchy within department represented by financial dimension.
This means that if you cannot align your fin dim hierarchy structure with the position hierarchy structure, an adjustment is needed. Even if you can align both structures an adjustment might be better because the setup and maintenance of the position hierarchy can quickly get complex and time consuming.

In the last two projects where I was involved in we made a small modification to the way how we can define signing limits and bound that to financial dimension. Guess that you will need something alike to make this work easily/smoothly.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi Ludwig,

The issue is that I need to replicate this on the purchase orders. And the workflow needs to initiate based on the financial dimension value. I can have one requester, however he is entering a PO where every line can have different financial dimension value for the department.

And then every department can have a multi tiered  approvers.

The manager level 1,2,3 will not help in this case.

Any idea before thinking of a new customization?

    Thanks

    Sam

    Hello Sam,

I do not see a way how to realize this in the standard application without making a system modification.

What might help are some posts that have been published on the following website:

    organicax.com/.../workflow

They are for AX2012 but still valid for this issue.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

It looks to be a customization. Thanks Sam
