Planning for Multiple Location

Posted on by 45

Hi

How can i calculate planning for all locations in total (combine)? Is the solution to create "bin" for my secondary stock?

    Meier,

OK, 2 Locations then I would create Stockkeeping Units. I am guessing you have the same Planning parameters for both but if not you can update the SKU Card with any differences. Each Location will apply the Demand (Sales Orders) and Planning parameters, and any Forecast and generate a PO off the Planning Worksheet. One thing to note, since you have 2 Locations, the PO's will be separate since they will ship to each Location. If your DK1 fulfills all DK2 demand then on the SKU Card for DK2 set the Replenishment to Transfer and set the Transfer-From Code DK1. Now you will get 1 PO for all demand at both Locations.

    RE: Planning for Multiple Location

    Hi Steve

We have our main warehouse at one location (DK1) and then we have a back up warehouse at another location (DK2). I want to run planning/worksheet on both warehouse/location combined demand, so i want to run my planning for my stock at the same time

    RE: Planning for Multiple Location

    Meier,

My first question is when you say Location you are speaking about have Location Main, Location Storage, Location XXXX, correct? Or are you calling Locations Bins? If physical Locations, you should setup Stockkeeping Units and set the planning parameters for each Item/Location (SKU) combination. This will allow you to plan for all locations and denote on the PO which Locations requires the Inventory and Ship-to receiving. If using Bins, demand will be from a single location. When entering a Sales Order, with Bin Mandatory and not Advanced Warehousing, you can select the Bin if the inventory is present.  Advanced Warehousing will not allow you to assign the Bin on the Sales Order.

Again, not sure which way you are thinking but if Locations, create SKU and then setup planning parameters. Then based on SO demand, plus Planning Parameters, it will generate a PO for that location.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks,

    Steve
