Trigger for product export

Hi All,

How to set the trigger for exporting the product and product master.

Which is the best option, how to handle it without using the button control event.

Just assume that I create a product in D365 for some reason I am not able to give some information at that time, it inserts the record in the table. Again, I update some information with some fields and again it sends the record.

In the journal line, the control is in the post button, like the same way do we have any functionality for exporting the product and product master.

Can we make use of the validate button in the product master

Please suggest this.

    Your second sentence sounds like if you don't want to use a button. But then you suggestion using the Validate button. Now I'm confused what you actuallu want. Could you clarify that, please?

    Also, what exactly do you mean by exporting? For example, do you want to get an Excel file for download, or send an XML file to an external system?

    Yes, you are right, I don't want to use button logic.

    I meant to say Can I use the validate button logic to some boolean variable at the backend say example if some of the necessary fields got filled the boolean needs to be flagged true based on that my export trigger logic should work.

    My question here is to export project and product master which fields should be considered.

    Say product dimension group, item group, item model group, is there any other fields I need to consider.

    Hi Pravasti,

    Linking the export to a validation button doesn't sound to be the best approach. What do you expect to happen when a user changes two fields, click validate, then again changing fields and click validate. Have you also thought of the option that users can execute the validation without even changing a single field?

    What exact option did you implement for exporting the products? Potentially you can skip records based on criteria?

    Hi Andre,

    My intention is not to use the validate button logic.

    For the outbound process, exporting the product and product master records is the best approach.

    I can see a few fields validation happens at the validate button, can I make use of the logic to make enable the boolean field at the backend, if that is true I will then export the item.

    For product creation what are all the fields to get considered, because there may be a situation where I simply autosave the form after making the changes, then on the same product I keep on updating the fields again and again so instead of sending multiple msg trigger to external application, I need to send a single msg trigger. It's a real time scenario.

    Hi Pravasti,

    If you do some reverse engineering, you will find out what the validate button is executing. It will return a true or false, so you can try to call this logic for your validation.

    Yes, but it covers only the validation of item model group, item group, storage dimension. Do I need to consider any other validation apart from that.   This is what  am expecting

    Hi Pravasti,

    Do you still need help with this question? If so, please be more specific. What do you mean with 'other validation'? Above you mentioned that you wanted to use the logic to set a flag for export. I don't understand what you are adding to this conversation with your last comment.
