NAV non-responsive when note is opened

I have one user for whome when opening a note (the native NAV notes addin in the windows RTC client) NAV will become non-responsive.

It is like NAV has lost focus, and the note should be showing, but it is nowhere to be seen.  I have confirmed that NAV is not frozen, task manager shows it as still being active.  The note has not displayed behind NAV, or on another screen.  The only way to proceed is to kill NAV via the task manager.  I have tried reinstalling the client to no avail.  Has anyone else seen this behaviour?

We are using NAV 2018 (first release) and on Windows 10 Professional 64 bit.

I have the same question (0)

    Hello,

Not that I am aware off. In what release does this customer exhibit the experience? Does it repro in a CRONUS company using latest avaible CU (April 2021 is latest CU).

    Thanks.

Thanks for the response.  By release do you mean version?  It is NAV 2018, the first release.

I haven't used a Cronus database for years... and don't have one set up on the SQL server to test with, though that would be a good test to do.

No-one else is experiencing the issue however so I am guessing it is some kind of conflict with the add-in and some other component, .NET or otherwise in the user's computer.  I realise I hadn't checked the event viewer so I will check that and report anything useful.

    Hello Bruce,

Ah yes, I see that now that you did mention Dynamics NAV 2018 (release). With first release you mean no cumulative updates have been installed. I would certainly recommend to do so:

    support.microsoft.com/.../cumulative-update-40-for-microsoft-dynamics-nav-2018-build-46855-b4cf72ea-5728-4ba6-ba68-f0f95a700d00

April 2021 release is CU40. We are about to release May 2021 CU (CU41).

A good test is to do the same in a CRONUS company / standard company unmodified. You can restore it from the product DVD to your SQL server.

If this is happening for really one user (other users should do the same steps using the same role center, etc.), then you may want to clear user personalization for that user or ask the user to do the same from another workstation. That would give you a good overview where the problem might be situated.

    Hope it helps.

    Thanks.
