It provides too much functionality for a single module (we're talking about an enterprise-scale ERP system here), therefore it's split to several modules.

    Thanks ievgen,

it means D365 For Operations provides all the Financial functionality but is scattered over different modules instead of under a single head. Thanks

    Hi Noor,

In addition: D365 for Finance was created for the Business edition of D365. D365 for Operations used to be Microsoft Dynamics AX and was part of the Enterprise edition. The enterprise edition has much richer functionality compared to Finance.

The naming of the products did lead to confusion, so Microsoft changed the product names of Finance and Operations:

Finance: Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations, Business edition

Operations: Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations, Enterprise edition

    Hi Noor Elahi,

All the functionality that you mention is there but there is no single 'finance' module.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

Functionality you listed is covered by different modules in Operations, you can read about them on docs.microsoft.com docs.microsoft.com/.../index

Accounts payable covers vendors , Account receivables covers customers, General Ledger has chart of account setup and so on.

    Product information management covers products.

    Hi ievgen,

Thanks for the prompt reply. Actually i am MS CRM developer and new to D365 for operations.  prior to D365 for operations  i was asked to explore D365 For Finance there were vendors, customers, products, Chart of accounts, general ledger etc under a single module but in case of D365 for operations there is no such module that contains all the options as D365 For Finance. so i want to know is  D365 for operations offers all the functionality that D365 For Finance offers? Thanks

    Hi Noor Elahi,

D365fO has a couple of finance modules & sub-modules, comprising GL, AP, AR, travel & expense, cost accounting, budgeting, credit management, taxation, etc.

There is a lot of powerful finance functionality available out of the box.

Can't you identify those modules in your demo machine?

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi Noor Elahi,

Can you please elaborate what do you mean under "full module for Finance" and what exactly is missing in demo VM ?
