Associating an account to access CustomerSource

Hi,

I have a client who is trying to access customersource and is having some problems in doing so.  Therefore I am hoping that someone here may have encountered similar issues and get throw some light on how to by pass the issue.

The client sent an email to Microsoft and has been set up as Administrator.  However, on attempting to log on to customersoure, they are getting and access denied webpage, stating that they need to associate the account with their profile or click on "assistance".   Needless to say that they kept going around in a loop on clicking or the options given.

Could anyone offer any assistance to this issue?

Thanks

Make sure they are using an "In Private" session of Internet Explorer. IE is probably trying to pass whatever Windows Live address they are logged into the machine with.

Please consider that for first time users, Microsoft doesn't actually create users. What they really do is send an invitation e-mail containing a token link to activate the user. It's the so-called VOICE mail.

    The events are like:

    1. MS sends an invitation to john@customer.com
    2. John the customer receives the mail. At this point, no real Customersource account is setup por john@customer.com. If John tries to access Customersource he gets an access denied
    3. John has to click the provided link inside the invitation mail. Inside the web browser, John has to authenticate to any MS provided account system (outlook, hotmail, xbox, O365, etc). If John's browser is already setup with his fiancee's carol@outlook.com authentication, then carol@outlook.com becomes the CustomerSource user, even though the invitation was sent to another e-mail. This step is called the association, the authenticated user gets linked to the invitation.
    4. At this point, John can access Customersource using the MS provided authentication setup in the previous step.

This process is kind of elaborate and don't work every time. MS is prepared to resend the VOICE invitation in case the first one messed up.

    Hi Butch

At one point in time they did get that "In Private" session but on accessing that "Private" web page, they are still not able to log on to customersource.

The customer is using their organization email address; you think they should use their Windows Live account, should it matter?

    Hi Erich:

The user was set up as an Administrator not by Microsoft but by their VAR.

They received an email from Microsoft to link or associate their account, so on clicking on the link it carried them to customersource for them to enter their credentials.  That is when they got an "access denied" web page.

They are using their organization account not a Hotmail account.  Maybe Microsoft needs to resend the invitation.  I will suggest that to see if that may help.

    Thanks for your input.
