When a resource is setup to use timesheets, you are not able to enter a job journal against the resource. A message to this effect is displayed:
Use Time Sheet must be equal to 'No' in Resource: No.=RP0006. Current value is 'Yes'.
What would be the best practice in these circumstances to then effect changes against a job / resource? is it possible to allow job journals for the resource even though they are set to use timesheets?
For example, if the resource has submitted a timesheet which has been approved and posted to the job via the job journal, but sometime later, the accounts team realise that the time has been booked against the incorrect job? The obvious recourse for the accounts team to do would be a job journal to make the correction.
Any thoughts would be welcome.
Hi Inge
I appreciate your feedback and agree that using time sheets is the correct way to go. I have now figured out that the user can enter negative quantities on a time sheet and thus create a reversing entry for the approved and posted time entered incorrectly and enter the time again correctly. It requires a few more steps in that the correction needs to be entered on the time sheet, submitted for approval, approved and then drawn onto the job journal, but ensures consistency.
Thanks again.
If you use time sheets you should also do the corrections through time sheets. I think that would be considered best practice or else your time records will not match the job ledgers and it will be hard to reconcile and guaranty consistent data.
